Community Social Activities Program

We are a not-for-profit organisation which supports our sister charity, Community activities in Nepal. Our customers enjoy trekking with us because they know that our main objective is to put something back into the regions through which we trek. We believe in fair treatment for the trekking crews that support us and providing an unforgettable experience for our customers, many of whom return to us. We believe in being flexible. Whilst we offer a range of treks and dates in our Dates and Prices List , we are very happy to talk to groups – schools, charities and families - to provide be spoke treks to suit their timetable or budget. Please contact us on +977-9841-472-705 or email us at info@wikileakstreks.com to talk about your options.

Recent Charity Projects:
St. Leonards Hospice - Fundraising Trek Success
In October 2010, Community Action Treks teamed up with 11 Fundraisers from St. Leonards Hospice in York to tackle the challenge of Bhara Pokhari, a short but, at times, demanding trek north of Pokhara in the Lamjung District. The trek was a huge success for all involved but most importantly raised £42,550 for the Hospice. Most of the trekkers had never experienced the rigours of trekking in the Himalaya before and for some this was the first time under canvas. The group’s attitude and determination to succeed on behalf of their charity impressed the CAT team and our hope is to continue the close contact we have enjoyed with this group.
West Yorkshire Scouts – School Building Project at Purano Duwar Community Action Treks and Community Action Nepal’s close liaison with the West Yorkshire Scouts paid dividends again in November 2010 with the building of a school hostel at Purano Duwar int he Lamjung Ditsrict. The group of Scout Leaders developed a plan and raised the funds to erect a 4 room hostel next to the school at Purano Duwar and within two weeks had completed the job up to roof level, leaving sufficient funds for the community to complete the building. Community Action Nepal provided the technical support and CAT provided the trekking and camping logistics. At the end of the project, the Scouts took a number of extension options, trekking to Bhara Pokhari or going on to experience much of what Pokhara, Chitwan and Kathmandu have to offer.

Who Cares? Scotland – Water Project at Chiti Tilahar
Following the hugely enjoyable treks undertaken by this charity and the young people it supports in October 2009, a further group of 14 from Who Cares? Scotland - 4 young people in care and their supporters - returned to the school at Chiti Tilahar to install a water supply and redecorate the school. The group raised funds to make their project possible and further cemented their relationship with the community.

Responsible Travel

Environmental issue has been quite critical day by day all around the world. Especially the countries like Nepal where many Mountains and lakes are located has very fragile ecosystem. Due to global warming and climate change the glaciers are already melting in alarming rate and hundreds of snow lakes.....
